brain injury

Brain damage is a vague term that can really mean just about anything. However, for purposes of this book, I am referring to damage to the brain that is secondary to trauma, which results in an anatomical change. If you have a case in which your client suffered a forceful impact or sustained cervical damage, screen the case for brain damage as well. Trauma can be blunt trauma, blast waves, electrical trauma, and/or trauma due to lack of oxygen. Moreover, certain medical conditions or events can worsen an already injured brain and/or cause a poor recovery.
