Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / Jun 23, 2025
STATE OF MISSOURI, Respondent v ALBERT JAY WRIGHT, Appellant
Albert Jay Wright was found guilty of attempted stealing after entering a victim's home, threatening her, and demanding money. On appeal, Wright argued there was insufficient evidence to prove his intent was to take money "from the person of the victim" because she was in her underwear and t-shirt, and he asked where her money was. The appellate court affirmed the conviction, finding sufficient evidence for a reasonable juror to conclude Wright took a substantial step towards taking money from the victim's person.
