Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / Apr 14, 2020
STATE OF MISSOURI, Plaintiff-Respondent v. BRANDY BROOKE SHADDOX, Defendant-Appellant
Brandy Brooke Shaddox was convicted of first-degree murder, first-degree assault, armed criminal action, kidnapping, and forgery. On appeal, she challenged the sufficiency of the evidence for deliberation in her first-degree murder conviction and the trial court's admission of officer testimony defining slang terms. The Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District, affirmed the judgment. The court found sufficient evidence of deliberation based on her actions before and after the victim's death, and concluded the trial court did not abuse its discretion in allowing officers to define slang terms for the jury.
