Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / Mar 5, 2019
STATE OF MISSOURI, Respondent vs. CARL A. SELPH, Appellant
Carl A. Selph was convicted of statutory sodomy and child molestation after a jury trial. On appeal, Selph argued the trial court erred by allowing a forensic interviewer to testify about "tentative disclosure" and by admitting a detective's testimony that Selph objected to as hearsay. The appellate court affirmed the judgment, finding no abuse of discretion in either evidentiary ruling, as the expert testimony was general and the detective's testimony was not offered for the truth of the matter asserted.
