Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / Feb 14, 2019
STATE OF MISSOURI, Plaintiff-Respondent v. CHRISTA ELAINE MUELLER, Defendant-Appellant
Christa Mueller was found guilty of first-degree assault under an accomplice liability theory for severe injuries inflicted upon a seventeen-month-old child. On appeal, Mueller challenged the sufficiency of the evidence to support her conviction and argued the trial court plainly erred by not intervening during the prosecutor's closing argument. The appellate court affirmed the judgment, concluding that sufficient evidence supported Mueller's conviction and that no plain error occurred regarding the prosecutor's statements.
