Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / Nov 5, 2018
STATE OF MISSOURI, Respondent vs. CHRISTOPHER L. SCHULER, Appellant
Christopher L. Schuler appealed his conviction for sexual abuse in the second degree, arguing there was insufficient evidence to prove he touched the victim for the purpose of arousing or gratifying sexual desire. The trial court found Schuler guilty after a bench trial. The appellate court affirmed the conviction, holding that the act of grabbing a stranger's genitals, combined with Schuler's subsequent actions, provided sufficient circumstantial evidence to infer the required intent.
