State of Missouri vs. Quincy D. Giles
Quincy Giles was convicted of two counts of first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action. On appeal, he argued the trial court erred by failing to grant him allocution before sentencing and by finding no probable cause for ineffective assistance of counsel. The appellate court vacated Giles's sentence and remanded the case, holding that the trial court's failure to grant allocution, as required by statute and rule, was reversible error. The court did not address the ineffective assistance claim due to the remand for resentencing.
