Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / Mar 14, 2019
STATE OF MISSOURI, Plaintiff-Respondent v. SCOTT RANDALL COLLINS, Defendant-Appellant
Defendant Scott Collins was convicted after a bench trial of making a terrorist threat and victim tampering. On appeal, Collins challenged the sufficiency of the evidence for his victim tampering conviction, arguing that Mercy Hospital, not a natural person, was the victim of the terrorist threat. The appellate court affirmed, holding that the natural persons in the hospital were the victims of the terrorist threat, and the security officer who testified was acting on their behalf, thus satisfying the elements of victim tampering.
