Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District / Oct 6, 2020
State of Missouri vs. Travon Marcel Williams
Travon Marcel Williams appealed his convictions for first-degree involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action, arguing there was insufficient evidence to prove he did not act in lawful defense of another. Williams shot Jacobsen Laumoli during a Halloween party altercation, claiming he was defending another person involved in a fistfight. The appellate court affirmed the trial court's judgment, concluding that a reasonable juror could have found the State proved beyond a reasonable doubt that Williams did not act in defense of another, given the nature of the initial fight and Williams's actions after the shooting.
