Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / May 19, 2020
STATE OF MISSOURI, Plaintiff-Respondent v. WILLIAM JOSHUA CARTER, Defendant-Appellant
William Joshua Carter was found guilty of two counts of first-degree murder for running down his estranged wife and her boyfriend with his car. On appeal, Carter argued that his convictions were not supported by sufficient evidence because the State failed to prove he coolly reflected upon killing the victims. The appellate court affirmed the convictions, finding that the evidence, viewed in the light most favorable to the verdict, was sufficient for a reasonable juror to infer deliberation.
