Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District / Mar 19, 2019
State of Missouri vs. Adrian S. Doolin
Adrian Doolin appealed the denial of his Rule 29.07(d) motion to withdraw his guilty plea for sexual misconduct in the first degree. He claimed his plea was induced by erroneous advice from his counsel that he would never have to register as a sex offender, resulting in manifest injustice. The appellate court affirmed the denial, first establishing jurisdiction over the post-sentencing misdemeanor motion. It then found that Doolin failed to prove his counsel made such an assurance, and the advice given at the time regarding registration requirements was accurate, thus no manifest injustice occurred.
