Supreme Court of Missouri / May 1, 2018
State of Missouri, Respondent, vs. Alok Kumar Rohra, Appellant.
Alok Rohra appealed his conviction for unlawful possession of a firearm, arguing the charging documents were insufficient because his prior Oklahoma deferred judgment did not qualify as a "conviction" under the statute. The circuit court had overruled his motion to dismiss, and Rohra subsequently pleaded guilty. The Missouri Supreme Court affirmed the judgment, holding that Rohra waived this substantive legal argument by entering an unconditional guilty plea.
