Buddy Wickizer vs. State of Missouri
Buddy Wickizer appealed the denial of his Rule 29.15 motion for post-conviction relief, alleging ineffective assistance of trial counsel. He argued counsel failed to object to an improper prior-offender finding and to the prosecutor's closing argument. The motion court denied relief, finding no prejudice. The appellate court affirmed, holding that counsel's decisions were either reasonable trial strategy or did not result in prejudice, as Wickizer failed to show his sentence would have been lower.
