Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / Aug 31, 2021
STATE OF MISSOURI, Plaintiff-Respondent v. CHESTER WILLIAM FEWINS, Defendant-Appellant
Chester William Fewins appealed his bench-trial convictions for multiple sexual offenses and child abuse. He argued the trial court erred by denying a continuance and that the written judgment contained clerical errors regarding his sentences. The appellate court affirmed Fewins's convictions, finding no adverse ruling on the continuance request as it was granted. However, the court agreed that the written judgment's 99-year sentences materially differed from the oral pronouncement of life sentences and remanded the case for correction of the judgment.
