CITY OF JOPLIN, Respondent vs. JAMES MAXWELL LEEPER, JR., Appellant
James Maxwell Leeper, Jr. was found guilty after a bench trial de novo of violating four municipal traffic ordinances and appealed. He challenged the sufficiency of the evidence and the admission of identification testimony. The appellate court affirmed the trial court's judgment, holding that Leeper's arguments failed because they ignored the proper standard of review for sufficiency of the evidence and witness credibility. A concurring opinion also noted that Leeper's brief failed to comply with Rule 84.04.
