Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / Jan 24, 2023
STATE OF MISSOURI, Plaintiff-Respondent v. DAVID L. WILLIAMS, Defendant-Appellant
David L. Williams was found guilty of possessing a weapon inside the Department of Corrections and sentenced to 25 years. On appeal, Williams claimed the circuit court abused its discretion by denying his request for a mistrial. This request followed a State's witness volunteering that Williams had an "aggressive nature with staff and multiple staff assaults." The appellate court affirmed the judgment, finding no abuse of discretion in the denial of the mistrial.
