STATE OF MISSOURI, Respondent vs. DAVID TROYER, JR., Appellant
David Troyer, Jr. was convicted of first-degree child molestation following a jury trial. On appeal, Troyer argued the trial court erred by admitting his extrajudicial statements because the State failed to prove the corpus delicti of the charged offense. The Southern District of Missouri agreed, vacating the judgment and remanding the case for further proceedings. The court found that the State presented no independent evidence to corroborate Troyer's confession, which is required under the corpus delicti rule.
