Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / Mar 31, 2023
STATE OF MISSOURI, Respondent v. ERIC CHRISTOPHER GIBBS, Appellant
Eric Christopher Gibbs appealed his convictions for failing to register as a sex offender and failing to register a change of residence following a bench trial. Gibbs argued there was insufficient evidence he was required to register and insufficient evidence he changed his residence, and that the trial court erred in admitting hearsay testimony. The appellate court affirmed, holding that Gibbs judicially admitted he was required to register, and his hearsay objection was not preserved for plain error review, allowing the unobjected-to evidence to support the conviction for failing to register a change of residence.
