Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District / Mar 7, 2023
State of Missouri, Respondent, v. Eugene P. Hampton, Appellant.
Eugene Hampton was convicted of first-degree murder and armed criminal action. On appeal, Hampton challenged the trial court's denial of his request to represent himself at trial and its denial of his motion to suppress evidence. The appellate court affirmed the trial court's judgment, concluding that Hampton's request for self-representation was equivocal and that he failed to demonstrate prejudice from the admission of the challenged evidence.
