Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District / Feb 14, 2023
J.H., A Minor, By and Through His Natural Mother and Next Friend, Roxanna Louis Meudt-Antele vs. Jefferson City Public School District, et al.
J.H., a minor, through his mother, appealed the grant of summary judgment to the Jefferson City Public School District on his Missouri Human Rights Act (MHRA) claim. J.H., a male wrestler, alleged gender discrimination because he was forced to cut his hair to compete, while a female wrestler was allowed to wear a hair cap. The appellate court reversed the summary judgment, finding that genuine issues of material fact existed regarding whether male and female wrestlers were provided equal accommodations under the same rules, and remanded the case for further proceedings.
