Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District / May 12, 2020
Jim Needy, Respondent, vs. John Hammond, Appellant.
John Hammond appealed the denial of his motion to set aside a default judgment entered against him in a landlord-tenant dispute for unpaid rent. The default judgment was issued by an associate circuit judge. The appellate court dismissed the appeal, holding that it lacked jurisdiction because Hammond failed to apply for a trial de novo in the circuit court, as required by Section 512.180.1, prior to seeking appellate review.
