Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / Jun 11, 2024
STATE OF MISSOURI, Respondent vs. JOHN A. SHUTTERS, Appellant
John A. Shutters was found guilty by a jury of two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy and sentenced to consecutive terms of imprisonment. On appeal, Shutters raised five points of error concerning the amendment of the information, exclusion of testimony, admission of exhibits, uncharged sexual misconduct, and the failure to appoint counsel at his initial appearance. The appellate court affirmed the trial court's judgment, declining to engage in plain error review for all five points.
