Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / May 20, 2024
STATE OF MISSOURI, Respondent vs. JONATHAN G. NEWTON, Appellant
Jonathan G. Newton was convicted of three counts of statutory sodomy. On appeal, Newton argued the trial court abused its discretion by excluding testimony from Victim's mother regarding Grandmother's previous false allegations of sexual abuse against other family members. He also contended the court erred by failing to grant a mistrial when an investigator testified Newton had refused a polygraph test. The appellate court affirmed the trial court's judgment, finding no abuse of discretion in either ruling.
