State of Missouri, Respondent, v. Joseph J. DeJoie, Appellant.
Joseph DeJoie appealed his convictions for various crimes, including involuntary manslaughter, rape, and abandonment of a corpse, following a jury trial. DeJoie challenged the constitutionality of the corpse-reporting statute, the admission of a bin containing a decomposed body, the exclusion of his expert toxicologist's opinion on cause of death, and a crime scene investigator's testimony. The appellate court affirmed all convictions, denying each of DeJoie's four points on appeal.
