STATE OF MISSOURI, Plaintiff-Respondent vs. KEVIN C. NEWMAN, Defendant-Appellant
Kevin C. Newman was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. On appeal, Newman claimed the trial court erred by allowing the State to argue facts not admitted at trial during closing arguments and by admitting hearsay statements into evidence. The Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District, affirmed the conviction, finding that the prosecutor's statements were reasonable inferences from admitted evidence and that the challenged hearsay was admissible for a non-hearsay purpose and was cumulative.
