Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District / Nov 26, 2019
Leopold Mayes, Appellant, vs. UPS, Inc., et al., Respondent.
Leopold Mayes sued UPS and former coworkers for gender discrimination and other claims after his termination. A jury found UPS liable for gender discrimination and punitive damages, and found for Mayes on a coworker's retaliation counterclaim. The trial court granted UPS a new trial, setting aside the entire judgment. The appellate court affirmed the grant of a new trial for Mayes's gender discrimination claim against UPS, but reversed the trial court's order setting aside the judgments on the defamation claims and the retaliation counterclaim, entering judgment on those claims.
