Michel Ziade Missouri Cases

Quality Business Solutions, Inc. (QBS) appealed a final award of compensation from the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission to Michel Ziade's widow, Kristin Ziade, following Michel's murder by a co-worker. QBS challenged the Commission's finding that Michel was its employee and argued that judicial and collateral estoppel should apply. The appellate court affirmed the Commission's finding of employment, reversed the Commission's determination that it lacked jurisdiction over estoppel issues, and, after conducting its own analysis, found that neither judicial nor collateral estoppel barred Ziade's claim.
