Missouri Office of the Public Counsel vs. Evergy Missouri West, INC. d/b/a Evergy Missouri West and Public Service Commission of the State of Missouri
The Office of Public Counsel appealed an order from the Public Service Commission dismissing thirty pro se complaints against Evergy Missouri West. The complaints concerned Evergy's efforts to obtain easements for an electrical line project, alleging unlawful acts and fraudulent conduct. The appellate court affirmed the Commission's dismissal, holding that the case became moot when Evergy abandoned its efforts to seek easements from the landowners, thereby eliminating any live controversy for which effectual relief could be granted.
