Missouri Court of Appeals, Western District / Dec 10, 2019
State of Missouri vs. Ramon D. Boyd
Ramon D. Boyd appealed his conviction for voluntary manslaughter, assault, armed criminal action, and leaving the scene of a shooting. He challenged the trial court's rulings on a Batson challenge and a reverse-Batson challenge, as well as the admission of text messages from his girlfriend's phone. The appellate court affirmed the judgment, finding no clear error in the Batson rulings and concluding that Boyd lacked standing to challenge the search of his girlfriend's phone.
