Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / Jul 25, 2022
RON CALZONE and ANNE CALZONE, Appellants vs. MARIES COUNTY COMMISSION, ET AL., Respondents
Ron and Anne Calzone appealed a trial court judgment that found in favor of the Maries County Commission on their claims that the Commission violated Missouri's Sunshine Law. The Calzones alleged the Commission failed to provide public access to meetings and proper notice of meetings during April 7-20, 2020. The appellate court dismissed the claim regarding public access due to briefing deficiencies. However, it reversed the trial court's judgment on the notice claim, holding that the Commission violated statutory notice requirements, and remanded the case for further proceedings to determine the public interest implications of voiding the actions taken.
