Ronald R. Spradling was convicted of kidnapping, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm, and appealed his convictions and sentences. He challenged the trial court's denial of his requests to strike certain venirepersons for cause, arguing they could not fairly consider a felon's self-defense claim involving a firearm. Spradling also contended the trial court plainly erred in sentencing him on the armed criminal action counts.
