Ruqaiyah Hunter vs. Division of Employment Security
Ruqaiyah Hunter appealed a decision by the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission, which affirmed an Appeals Tribunal ruling that her employer had good cause to file an untimely protest against her unemployment benefits claim. While her appeal was pending, a Division deputy issued a void second determination denying benefits. The appellate court dismissed Hunter's appeal because her brief failed to challenge the Commission's actual ruling, instead focusing on the merits of her separation from employment.
