Missouri Court of Appeals, Southern District / Dec 13, 2022
STATE OF MISSOURI, Plaintiff-Appellant v. SAMUEL ALLEN MEADOR, Defendant-Respondent
The State appealed the circuit court's judgment of acquittal notwithstanding the verdict (JNOV), which had overturned a jury's guilty verdict against Samuel Allen Meador for felony resisting arrest. The appellate court reversed the JNOV, concluding that the State presented sufficient evidence for a reasonable juror to find Meador guilty beyond a reasonable doubt regarding his knowledge of the arrest and that the arrest was in progress. The case was remanded to the circuit court with directions to accept the jury's verdict and proceed to sentencing.
